Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician repairs and maintains manufacturing equipment and facility systems. Approximately 80% of the role involves machine repair and maintenance, and 20% involves building repairs and other maintenance duties.
  • Must have at least 3 years of repair experience with mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Must have hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical manufacturing equipment and systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, and material-handling equipment.
  • Must have the electrical skills needed to install, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems, including motors, motor controls, wiring, sensors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in manufacturing facility maintenance and machine repair.
  • Must be able to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, drawings, and instructions for electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, welding, plumbing, and assembly work.
  • Must be able to interpret parts diagrams and equipment manuals to identify components and select the correct replacement parts.
  • Must be proficient in the use of hand tools and measuring equipment, including measuring tapes, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Must be familiar with spare parts inventory control systems.
  • Must understand and follow applicable MIOSHA and OSHA safety requirements, including lockout/tagout, machine guarding, electrical safety, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must wear required PPE, including safety glasses, steel-toe footwear, hearing protection, and gloves, as applicable.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and complete maintenance work within established deadlines.
  • Must communicate effectively and work well with others.
  • Must successfully complete assigned company and outside training, certification courses, and continuing education, and apply the knowledge to current and future equipment.
This position involves work in varying temperatures, heights, spaces, noise levels, and weather conditions. Physical duties include prolonged sitting, standing, and walking; bending, stretching, reaching overhead, twisting, kneeling, and squatting; climbing ladders and steps; and lifting up to 75 pounds. Due to the nature of the position, most accommodations cannot be made nor accepted.
Requirements
  • Must be over 18 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or state-recognized equivalent.
  • Must have basic computer skills, including email, data entry, and spreadsheets, and be able to use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to complete work orders, document repairs, and review equipment history and electronic manuals.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license for driving on company business, including travel between company locations.
  • Must successfully complete and pass a substance screening and background check.
  • Must be reliable and maintain an excellent attendance record.
  • Must provide personal tools and a toolbox or tool cart.
  • Must be able to work assigned shifts of 8–12 hours, including days, afternoons, midnights, overtime, weekends, and holidays, as needed, at plant locations in Garden City and Livonia.
  • Must be able to perform the physical duties described above, including lifting up to 75 pounds and working at varying heights and in varying spaces and temperatures.
  • Must have at least 3 years of industrial maintenance experience performing duties related to those outlined in this job description.
